Blowing Rock Board of Commissioners Tuesday, September 3, 2002 The Mayor and Board of Commissioners for the Town of Blowing Rock met in special called session on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. Present were Mayor Pro-tem Terry Lentz, Barbara Ball, Keith Tester, Rita Wiseman, and David Wray. Mayor J. B. Lawrence was out of town and could not attend. Also present were Town Engineer Marion Rothrock and Town Clerk Barbara Beach. The meeting was held on the new sidewalk on North Main Street. The purpose of the meeting was to examine the guardrail materials and reach a consensus as to whether a wood rail should be constructed on the inside of the metal guardrail as is specified in the contract. Council members walked the length of the sidewalk from Shoppes on the Parkway to the Chetola entrance. Members agreed that they would prefer nothing be placed on the inside of the rail; that it is not necessary to add wood or metal. The material used for the bridge over the creek is not split rail as is the rest of the wood railing, and members agreed that it was appropriate since pedestrians might stop at that point to enjoy the view of the creek. There was no further business, and at 6:15 p.m. Mayor Pro-tem Terry Lentz adjourned the meeting.
