 Mayor J.B. Lawrence

Mayor J.B. Lawrence is a native of Watauga County, and has been a resident of Blowing Rock since 1972. He attended Appalachian State University. Mayor Lawrence is the City President of the United Community Bank in Blowing Rock.

Mayor Lawrence is a member of the Blowing Rock Rotary Club, Blowing Rock Rescue Squad, Blue Ridge Electric Membership Board, High Country Council Government Board, and attends First Baptist Church in Blowing Rock. He and his wife Lynn, have two children and five grandchildren.

Mayor Lawrence has served as Mayor since 1997 and was a member of the Town Council from 1989-1997. His current term will expire in 2013.

 Jim Steele

Jim Steele is an active long-term resident of Blowing Rock, serving on town boards such as, the Blowing Rock Planning Board (seven years), the Blowing Rock Board of Adjustments, the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors for the Blowing Rock Community Foundation.

Mr. Steele is a graduate from Colgate University where he received his BA in Economics. He retired from Executive Sales in the commercial furniture industry. Currently he is a member of the Blowing Rock Rotary Club, the Blowing Rock Historical Society and attends First Baptist Church of Blowing Rock.

Sworn into office December, 2009. His term will expire December, 2013.

 Albert Yount

Albert Yount is a native of Newton in Catawba County, NC and is former chairman of the Catawba County Board of Elections, Chairman of the Hickory Regional Planning Commission and is a retired member of the Newton Fire Department. He served an active duty tour in the US Navy and has a degree in History/Government from Lenoir Rhyne University in Hickory, NC.

Mr. Yount has been a Blowing Rock resident since 1995. He is a member of the Blowing Rock Historical Society Board and served as a member of the Blowing Rock Planning Board for six years.

Mr. Yount was sworn into office December 2011 and his current term will expire in December 2015.
