Training

The Blowing Rock Rescue Squad spends numerous hours on training and continuing education to enhance the ability of rescuers to deal more effectively with medical emergencies, rescues and related emergencies. To provide quality customer service to those in need, and learn the most effective methods of saving lives, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification is required to be a full member of the Rescue Squad. Aaron Miller, training officer, facilitates the monthly training programs, and is responsible for assuring that all members can perform critical thinking during an emergency, and have and maintain knowledge and skills needed to respond to all types of medical emergencies in the safest means possible.

In addition to EMT, EMT-Defibrillator and EMT-Intermediate continuing education the squad trains for High Angle rescues, Vehicle Extrication and Structural Collapse.
