Within the Town of Blowing Rock, it is mandatory that businesses participate in the Town’s recycling program. As of July 1st, 2003, the town transferred the responsibilities of the Recycling Department to the Public Works - Sanitation Division. The Sanitation Division will collect the recyclable materials (cardboard and glass) on a Thursday-only schedule from businesses, sort the recyclables, and then haul the recyclable materials to the County Recycling Center. The Sanitation Division also provides a convenience center where residents may drop off recyclable materials. This is located adjacent to the American Legion building.
Due to Town collection costs, all large volume commercial recycling customers (determined based on historical Town recycling collection volumes) will be required to contract privately for recycling collection. For further questions pertaining to the policies, please contact Town Hall.
